LT1 Issues, any thoughts?

Default LT1 Issues, any thoughts?

This is another crank, no start thread. However, this engine was pulled running. Was torn down to reseal, all gaskets and seals changed. Has good fuel pressure, injector pulse, spark at plugs, and compression check shows 135. Car just cranks, and doesn't even attempt to fire. I even sprayed carb cleaner in the throttle body and not even a hiccup.

Wow, guess everyone else is stumped too. Quadruple checked firing order, re adjusted valves, checked resistance on injectors. All is ok.... gonna pop the fuel rail off in the morning to make sure I don't have stuck injectors. This car has a hotwire kit for the fuel pump, anyone know if that would cause issues with stock injectors? If the injectors are ok, the only other thing I can think is maybe by some twisted act of stupidity I got the opti clocked wrong, but I really don't think I did.

Does it do anything? Backfire through TB? out exhaust? With 135 psi and any fuel if a spark happens some farting and popping is going to occur.

Check to make sure Opti is clocked correctly. If starting fluid causes nothing -with good compression-, then spark timing is off. 135psi is plenty to run an engine.

No back fire or anything. Yea it almost seems to be a timing issue, but I put that opti in when the engine was out of the car. Was careful to line it up, and it dropped right in, didn't force anything. But at this point I guess it's kinda my last option.

sounds like maybe a connector is just unplugged....

I've got good fuel pressure, injector pulse, and spark. What could be unplugged?

Ok, now i'm ready to burn this thing to the ground. Pulled the opti, and it was in the correct way. I even pulled the cap to make sure the rotor was clocked right too. it is..... I'm officially out of ideas.

You're getting spark to all eight plugs? Or to the Coil pack?

Also just because you have spark doesn't mean it's strong enough. What brand Opti are you using?

I take that back, the rotor is not right. it's screwed down in the right spot, but when the perch was pressed on during manufacture, they were off by about 90 degrees. WTF

Getting very bright spark to the plugs. Its my fault for taking a chance on a cheap one off ebay that some have had good luck with, and some not so much....

both of these have the dowel slot on the back pointing to #6. the one on the right is an accel that the sensor failed, the left is what I will expect from cheap garbage from now on.

so i swapped over the new sensor to my old accel. put it in and test fired before putting anything else back on. fired right up..... I also just sent an email to (well i wanted to save myself the embarrassment but i'll go ahead and say it) Chandler about their lovely distributor with the same pic i posted here. wonder if i'll even get a response.

chandler opti......if you would have said that was what you had in your initial post my bet is 100% of the replies would have been replace it before doing anything else other than check FP.

Wow, Ive had only Accel and GM optis, the accels optical module went out after a year and I have never had a GM opti unless wet fail.
