Default Tail light issues

So as the title suggests I have the dreaded rusted out tail light sockets. I found some standing water in my right side tail light and it hasnt been the same since. My question is I have a 97 camaro Z28 and i wanted to switch to the 3057 bulb harness on the newer 98-02 models. Do I have to run a new light blue wire to the dash since I have the old style 2057 sockets in my car or can I just get the wiring harness all the way to the plug inside the car and just plug it in?
