Default Unbelievable. Code 36.

Two and a half year old $500 MSD opti bites the dust. I knew it was coming too. If it sat for long periods of time it would take a while to start up. Now it wont even fire up.

Stupid vent hoses that I got from MSD were cracked and I didn't even notice it. All the cracks were hidden behind the plastic shielding. Probably that's what led up to it's death.

If it weren't for the once piece Fluidamper balancer it would be a piece of cake to change. But I have to pull the whole damn balancer off.

Not in the mood for this ****.

Just in case you werent aware, MSD will rebuild the unit for you with all new updated internals and a new cap & rotor also for about $120. plus shipping costs.

Yep kinda a hit or miss part but I have heard a lot more success stories, although I have not seen anyone with 100k plus mileage on one so you never know. Personally we've run 3 and never had an issue.

I actually had a MSD unit before I did the 24x, it was on the car for 4-5 years and when I removed it the cap was even cracked. I had no issues with mine. It was one of the earliest units also, my opti went out in 2006 right around the time they came out, I think I had to wait a week to get my hands on it.

Would love to do the 24x but I just can't justify spending 2 grand at the moment.
