Default Comp 918 "bad batch #" list??

Since my ? to Comp tech has gone as of yet unanswered. Does anyone know of specific batch #'s reported to be defective resulting in spring failure?

I found this thread that lists 049826 which refers to the "blue stripe" series.

http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/ls1-...ilures-526319/

I have read other threads about "bee hive" failure but no corresponding "batch #"s

I recall several batch #'s being the blue stripe, but there were a few new and improved shot peened also. I've had the same blue stripes on my car for the last 12 years or so. I bought a new set of the new style like 3 years ago and still have not put them on. Now you got me thinking. I do have the original blue stripe box and there is no batch # on it.

I have had mine on for about 8 years now with about 30k mi on them and dozens of 1/4 mi passes

what caught me was the noted "batch #" from the thread link I posted....is the same batch # of mine.

I vaguely remember first hearing about problems people were experiencing with 918's before I bought mine and at that time read batches 38xxx range. Something about Comp going away from PAC as a supplier and using a Mexican company..was supposedly the problem.

Then later Comp put out a "new" 918 with different heat treating, etc without a blue stripe. Reports of those breaking also.

Not here to start a 918 bash thread. just trying to get any verification from anyone who may have specific batch #'s.

I also feel "some" of the spring failure is due to improper installation or over rev but since Comp supposedly offered replacement springs for people having specific batch #'s...just wanted more clarification.

8 years, and in your case 12 years, of operation to me show them to be without issue...and hopefully will remain that way

BTW, batch # should be on the box. On mine (pic) it is on the end and also a smaller sticker on top of box
