Default Stall Question?

Hey guys,
I one of the good ol faithful LT1 guys and I was just wanting you guys input. I have a 4L80E being built for my setup now. Just by reading the post in this section I come up with the assumption that a stall around the 3400-3900rpm range. What do you guys think? Some specs are in my sig and I have 3.42 gears and the weight of the car may be around 3450lbs.

Let me know, or give me some tips on how to calculate what my own stall should be.

Good luck.

Its not worth the learning curve IMO.

Call up a torque converter company and have them spec you one. I run an FTI triple disk, advertised stall around 3300-3500 area. Make sure they know you need a 153tooth flexplate to 80e. Its gonna be billet front face regardless I think.

Thanks bro. I called one guy locally and he said no more than 2800. I thought that was a little low IMO.

Are you running a transbrake? The guy told me $700. And they all would be billet covers. I want a triple disk but I didnt know if I would be putting down enough hp to spend the extra money.

Lock up desire at WOT will dictate if you want a triple/single etc.

If you do not plan on locking the 'verter at top end of track at WOT, then a simple single disk is more than likely fine. Otherwise, make it rain.

And yes, I have a T-brake.

With a turbo you are likely going to be sending the converter back and forth a couple times to dial in, pretty fine balancing act to give it enough stall to spool right vs. too much stall and it blows through.
Pick a vendor you trust, give them detailed info and be ready to send it back for tweaks.
