Hi y'all,
Ive noticed my 94 T/A is leaking some sort of fluid onto my driveway and im not quite sure what it is. It seems to be coming out about halfway down the car and it doen,t appear to be dark enough to be oil or coolant. It doens't smell like gas. I was just curious if anyone might have some insight as to what it is. transmission fluid maybe? Anyway, any replies are appreciated.

Trans = red fluid
motor oil = brown/black
coolant = green or orange.

Gotta do some investigating, we can't tell you what it is without pics or without you digging in to the car a bit.

 

hmmm, unfortunately it is dark by the time i get home from work so i wont be able to do any real investigating until saturday. its not red though. After I am able to look into it more ill update. Thanks

 

Transmission fluid will either be red, or close to black if it's really old. Check the underside of the engine to be sure it's not a leak in the front getting blown to the back of the transmission while you're driving (it happens)

Coolant and Oil are never routed anywhere near the middle of the car though, tranny fluid is most likely, though brake fluid also runs the length of the car.

 

put a large piece of cardboard or paper under car where leak is when you park....will help detect what color/kind of fluid

of course putting the car up on jack stands and looking will also work...

source of leak can be somewhere other than where the "drip" is

So this isnt really the same issue but I didnt want to make a whole new thread. . . For some reason my radio does not turn off after i turn the car off and open the driver side door. It does turn off when I open the passenger door. It just started doing this about 3 weeks ago, any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks

 

Do the courtesy lights in your mirror go on or no? That would mean the door switch.

 

Do you have an automatic or a manual?

For those that say transmission fluid is red.
There is a good chance that if it is a manual the transmission fluid is not red. Even if it supposed to be a red fluid can you guarantee that someone in the life of the car has not changed the fluid and used one that is not red?

 

the lights dont come on, so you think the little switch in the door jam or whatever its called went bad?
