Talking Need info asap pleaseeeee someone..

Hi Im Devin I have a 1986 Monte Carlo Ls. I plan on putting in a LT1 I got out of a old police interceptor, I got the whole set up from wiring to the posi trac. But my biggest question is how to convert the LT1 to carb and HEI Distributor? I seen a intake by holley that would allow it. But far as the Distributor im lost.

Hey Devin, welcome to LS1tech!

Sounds like a nice project.

As I recall, this vehicle came with the 4.3L V6. It had fuel injection.

You should be able to get a HEI distributor from Ron Davis that'll work for you. http://performancedistributors.com/

Exhaust headers and motor mounts for the 5.0 SS version is needed also.

I don't think the Caprice rear end will fit the Monte.

Do you have any wrenching experienced friends helping you with this?

G-bodies that aren't the Grand National will have the 7.5" 10 bolt so if your posi is from a G80 Caprice then it will be 8.5" and won't fit. I know it's not that hard to put the B-body rear in a Monte but the width will be different. You'll need different length control arms (might just be lowers, not sure).

Gmpp makes a carb LT1 intake manifold, its still on summitracing.com last I saw. But the biggest question I have for you is why do you want to go carb and HEI instead of keeping the fuel injection if you have everything already? You would spend more on a carb, distributor and intake manifold than you would tuning up the original setup.
