Default AIR tuned out while still hooked up

Just curious if you can tune the AIR out without deleting the actual pump and piping. I just got my tune from Solomon and after talking to him he said that since I have no cats the AIR pump isn't necessary, so he tuned it out. I have emissions headers with the EGR and AIR still attached. Will I experience anything bad with having it tuned out and still hooked up? I'd rather not have to go through the hassle to delete the AIR. Kind of an oddball situation/question. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would hurt anything to leave it hooked up, but it's dead weight lol. I would just delete it and cap the headers off... I've seen way more LT1's without it than with it.. It's just a common thing to do..

Sounds good. I definitely will cap it at some point, just wanted to know if I could run it safely for a few months without having to change anything right away.

yes you can leave it all there safely, it just wont turn on anymore because its tuned out. i left mine hooked up for about a year after i had it tuned out even then i only removed it because i had to change my opti so i just never put it back in

no problem leaving the AIR system installed if tuned out.

Sadly I have mine on because even though I have the "sticker" put on by dealer saying it is no longer necessary....the TSB says "disable" not "delete". It is tuned out.

I have climbed the mountain through smog referee and even direct to the administrative system that governs the smog shops (CARB) and while that guy said he see's my position and if it was "up to him" I could take it off. Smog shop would not pass it if removed nor would the referee allow it

My main point is "so I now have a emission component that is no longer required to meet emission standards and can be "disabled" and now have a check valve leaking which is causing problems and I have to spend $ to fix a disabled system that I can't just remove from car"..and he State guys says "but GM said disable not delete"...and I say yes because GM did not want to pay the expense (labor) to physically remove it and cap off manifolds as just pulling a fuse & relay and flashing the PCM is way faster & cheaper". He agreed but defaulted to the printed text in TSB (which he did pull up on his screen)

you just need to find a shop that does not care...but I live in Calif. and the shops are under scrutiny by even having CARB send in "sting" cars to shops to see if they comply..and if the don't they get fined and will lose their license now that the "STAR" system is in place here

Hope you don't live in Calif as it is getting to be a PIA
