Timing for CC306

Timing for CC306 Ive got a carbed 355 with head work and a cc306. what is a good base timing? Running a Holley 750 Double pumper with mechanical secondaries. Did a light 3rd gear pull and it felt okay but I need to get my timing set right. Right now its just set by ear. Without pulling the heads its hard to find a definite TDC. Im going to try using the piston stop method and mark the balancer. The current balancer has timing marks but I dont know if they are relevant to this motor. Thanks.
All stock other than some head work? 33-36 to start, you can also do it the ole school way, at idle (In Park) snap open the carb halfway and see how it responds, if you get a little hesitation or back fire, it needs more timing. If you have too much, you will hear like a tap metal to metal (like a wrench tapping the header) but if you are not familiar with this method then I wouldn't recommended it.

Well its a 355 lt1 with p&p heads, bigger valves, 1.6 rr, cc306 cam, long tubes, intake, holley double pumper 750 carb mechanical sec..
I checked it and currently have it at 32 degrees. So happy the SBC balancer timing marks did line up and actually didnt have to touch it at all. I connected the vacuum advance and set the idle at 800 rpms. Now just have to see how it runs....
