New to the lt1.. I need help.
I recently bought a 95 trans am that was modded by the previous owner and left aside when he bought a new camaro. Car ran fine for the first few days but then It started dying on me and wouldn't start up. Took about a minute or two to start. The car will do fine if I up shift myself and only if I slowly accelerate up to 5-6k but it will sputter and drop the Rpms or not respond at all at wot. Also I get a strong odor of gas. A mechanic in town told me that it could be the fuel pump or the opti because the car had been sitting for a while. In drive the car will not go at wot. This is my second trans am and I know what they can do but thiamine feels sluggish and weak. Thanks for your help.

Is the car setting the check engine light(SES light)? Is it blinking on then off at any time? You need to get the car scanned for codes even if the SES light is off.
It would also be interesting to know what the long term fuel trims are reading.
Will it rev okay sitting still or will it not rev under load? Any popping or backfiring when revving?
Did the former owner tell you of any known issues with the car?
Here is how to check out the opti.
There are other things that might be wrong as well.. the above is good start to the check list.
I'm not a fan of underdrive pulleys.....they can cause voltage/charging issues, weak power steering, etc.
Are you planning on daily driving this car? Or is it still going to be a race car as noted above in the description.

Check engine light does not come on at all. The only light that is on is the low coolant light. Owner said it was the sensor.
The engine was redone in 09 and tuned in 2013 if I'm not mistaken. The owner said he left it sitting for a while because he had a gto and a new camaro. He also mentioned that the fuel pump was giving out when they were tuning it.
I'm getting the codes checked after my shift and I'll post up the results. I'll also post up the dyno sheet so that you guys can see the range and drop of power.
Makes me a little nervous they tuned it with a bad fuel pump.

I had stumbling under WOT throttle(high load situations) in 6th gear that turned out to be plug wire issues.
Most issues I've read of in the past revolving around high RPM stumbles do tend to be Opti related.
I would focus on these in this order....
- Fuel pump
- Plug wires
- Opti
- Ignition module
- Ignition coil
- Injector issues
Generally, I'd look at plug wires first, but given your report on the fuel pump....need to check that first.
