Default Passenger Side Engine Ground Fix Needed

I am in the process of doing a heads and cam swap.

I had to lift my engine a couple inches on the passenger side to get the header out. I usually just unbolt the 3 bolts that bolt the mount to the block to do this. When I went to do this today I could not get the ground stud apart. This was even with a pipe on a box end wrench on the stud and a pipe on my ratchet on the nut! After about an hour I finally gave up and just cut the eyelet off the heavy black ground wire just so I could get the stud out. I have no idea why it was so tight. I just had it apart not real long ago when I put the headers in.

Has anyone replaced the ground on the passenger side motor mount? It would be great if I could move it somewhere more convenient so I did not have to fight it every time I take need to take the headers out (which is hopefully not too often!)

So after looking a little more today, it looks like it was the negative battery cable I cut the end off of.

Anyone ever change their negative battery cable from the stock location at the engine mount?

All you have to do is bolt it securely to anywhere (clean metal) on the engine (preferably the block).

U need a clean contact at each end of cable. But u need a connection from the engine block to the chasis and one or the other to the batt negative.
Heres one from ORiellys specific to your camaro: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...d=ground+strap
And NAPA has a nice one but more expensive:http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...116_0144566658
Or u could just get some heavy gauge (#10 or larger) multistrand strand from HomeDepot (doesnt need to even be insulated) and a crimp on each end to land it where u want. But if one end needs to connect to the batt then u need a batt terminal connector on one end: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...rd=ground+wire

I guess what im saying dont let your engine block "float" without a ground strap. This forces currents grounded to the block to flow through the u-jounts that rotate to the batt - talk 'bout some crazy electrical problems.

Hope this helps ya.

Awesome thanks for the input guys! That does help clear things up. I'll see what I can figure out when I start putting the car back together.
