Default Header install

I'm in the MD area, but I'm pretty sure that Rapid Motorsports in PA could install headers on an LT1. I also believe they have one of the best tuners in the area. Hope this helps...

I would also anticipate doing motor mounts, spark plugs, and wires.
Edit: And 02 sensor extensions

So do you think 500 for labor is close to the going rate or is it to little?

also do you have a cat back you would suggest for headers into a 3" ORY (no cats)

$500 isn't bad, but its not a job I would wanna do on a flat rate.

Exhaust bolts could snap etc and then a simple couple hour job is magnified into an all nighter.

Magnaflow, Corsa, B&B, Hooker would get my vote.

ill be 100% honest,
you can look at my old posts, on my old car i did the headers and it was a nightmare. most of the bolts had little tabs on them from the old exhaust heat shield that had to be ground off, i just dont want to get involved again

i love lt1's just dont like working on exhaust after the last one,

and the weird (or smart idk) thing is many shops that i called will not work on a lt1

Thank you for all the Info
Dave

Those shops are a bunch of idiots if they cant put a set of headers on. It's not that hard for christ sake. You should just get yourself a engine hoist, jack stands, and do it yourself. Save some money too. You can unbolt the motor mounts and hoist the motor, they slip in from the bottom easy.

Stubborn exhaust bolts just need a little heat and out they come. They won't snap if YOU don't snap them

For the shops to say they won't put headers on an LT1 because it's not an LS1 is BS.. They're still F-Bodies at the end of the day.. I'm pretty sure the concept of installing header on either car is very similar..

Pretty sure tune time in Lakewood works on LT1's but I guarantee he's going to charge you more then $500, his work isn't cheap.. A lot of shops in the late 90's didn't want to touch a LT1 header install, I see something's never change. The shop that did mine did nothing but complain through the whole process

These broken bolts stories make the job sound worse, I guess I was lucky. I put headers on my 1994 Z28 a couple years ago. The car 180k miles and all of the bolts easily backed out without breaking any of them.

my bolts broke flush with the flange, so when i got the headers off I was able to take them off with those easy out sockets (they tighten while you loosen)

If a shop is scared of putting headers in, what the **** would they be ok with? Drop in filters?
