Can the internals between the 2 opti types be swapped? Or should I just rebuild with autozone parts?

 

Stay away from auto zone parts that's my advice.....first one I tried was a dud; second had a sporadic low RPM misfire; then it died 2000 miles later. No idea about the frankenopti with different internals.....you could try just putting a cap and rotor on it (vented, I suggest MSD) if the optical sensor is not shot.
