If it works out the car will come back to Columbia. The old owner of this engine is in Lexington somewhere. I may go visit him. Should be a fun street car. Heck maybe it will go to Road Atlanta, Roebling or Carolina Motorsports Park. Usually the miata goes as its cheap to run on gas,tires, and brakes. I don't think the ls1 front brakes are up to the task. Even with a Carbotech xp12. However my biggest problem right now is I can't find my corsa muffler. So looks like it's the awful sounding old school borla. Hopefully I can find it to make this thing sound awesome.

Well only got so far this weekend. Forgot my 7/16-20 rod to install the balancer. So that was the first hold up. Second hold up is I need to go to a machine shop in Columbia as no machine shop in Greenville can match the inbalance. I really think it's neutral balance but I want to make sure. A few other missing parts I need to order include some oxygen sensors and I need to pick up a pilot bushing. Other than that the car should be running Wednesday if all goes to plan.

However this picture made me happy.

Well the engine is running. With it being over 100 degress and the car in a hot driveway its taking longer than expected. However I will leave you with this.

Just curious did you get your 7/16-20 rod from McMaster or from a local place like Home Depot?

I got it at Fastenal in Columbia South Carolina. They had it in stock. Works great for a install tool.

As for track days. I want to go to one. However ctsv brakes are going to be a must.

I meant 1/4 mile so you could get a trap speed and we can see what power that junkyard treasure chest is making.

Haha maybe. It's funny as I have not been to a drag strip since 2009. The car will be seeing a dyno day so we will see exact numbers.

Stock brake calipers, decent pads, and decent rotors work fine for stopping my sled.

I would run it and see how you like em before spending crazy money

I know that fact. I've been running my miata on Carbotech xp10 and xp8. Good pads can do a lot. So I will try the ls1 calipers. Buddy runs the xp12 and xp8 on his time trial car. Still the miata is so cheap to run on the track.

Well I drove the car yesterday. I am starting to wonder about the Tr7 plugs. I replaced what came out with the same gap. But the car feels down on power till about 4000 rpm. Only pulled to 5200 as I was being easy on the clutch( it was its first drive). Going to wire in the msd box to see if that helps. I have a feeling I am going to be working on learning to tune my car. It seems to be running rich.

If not next up will be to pull spark plugs and see if there is anything else acting up. Maybe the tr7 are to cold for this setup.
