Default Gears question

Hey guys I am finishing up my nitrous outlet plate system, accompanied with full bolt ons and a YANK SS3600. My 94Z has an A4 and I am curious what you guys think I should use for a gear ratio. I am torn between 3.73's or 4.10's. The car is purely a toy/drag car and I am worried that with 4.10s on a 26in tire I will need to shift into 4th right before the 1/4 mile which would be slowing me down. I would like to trap between 110-115 area. Any thoughts/suggestions?

What's your redline? Stock?

I'm going to assume you have a redline ~5700rpm for the heck of it here.

1.) 3.73's, 26" tall tire, top of 3rd = ~119mph
2.) 4.10's, 26" tall tire, top of 3rd = ~107mph

If I am correct assuming your redline is in or around 5700rpm, the 3.73's look like the hot ticket between the two.

Yes as far as I am aware the redline is stock, also I dont think of it to be wise to move it up due to the 150 shot I will be spraying. I am hoping for traction on a 26in drag radial with the bigger stall.

3.73s/3600 stall/DRs/Nitrous/and viking drag shocks will make for a pretty quick car. 3.73s are just right for an auto car IMO.

I was hoping the 4.10s would work out but the more and more I read up on other relatively same set ups as mine, they trap around 110-115 which would put me right in 4th just before the traps. I'm trying to stay in my power band as much as possible.

You could consider 3.90's. They might work. Honestly though, at that point you are really splitting hairs, I would personally run 3.73's and call it a day.

Yeah 3.73s would work very well with that set up.
