Default Galley plug depth?

I've almost got the LT1 built, but I have hit what I think is a snag. Installing the three galley plugs in the rear of the motor and they seem to be screwing in a hell of a long way. I have the old block as a reference and they are way deeper in the new one.

This leads me to believe that the galley plugs don't bottom out, but have to be set at a certain depth. The problem is that I can't find the friggin answer anywhere. The book doesn't say, the internet doesn't say, and my usual resources don't say, so here I am. Is there a specific depth that they're supposed to be installed at or what?

They are a tapered plug. They really shouldnt bottom out but seal on the threads. Check to see how far back the threads go in the block. Also look to make sure that when they do tighten up they do not block any holes(for oiling) I put mine in a few months ago but cant really remember how far back they go. I always use indian head sealer on my threads.
