Default Ignition key from Home Depot?

Like many on here I have had the issue with my VATS not allowing me to start my car and almost left me stranded. So as I found the resistance of the OEM key and spliced that into the wire under the dash to bypass the key in the ignition cylinder.

That being said, I only have 1 key to the car and would like another. Has anyone had a new key cut from a generic store? I don't see why this wouldn't work if the resistor in the key is already bypassed...

It would work but keep in mind that the vats keys are a bit longer. Personally I buy blanks on eBay and then have them cut. Cheap and easy

You can buy the factory style key blanks on ebay and then just get them cut. That is what I always do.
