The factory LT1 motor in my car at 158ishK miles, bought it at 120k had bolt ons on it starting at 124k, after swapping the new built LT1 in, I took the old one apart and everything actually checked out really good for that high mileage.... Compression was good and etc. Rod bearings could have used replacing but were still plenty fine... Valve springs were the only thing else that was pretty clapped out. Still, don't do anything to crazy unless you have a good backup...

So you have LESS than HALF the mileage, 200K miles is over 300k KM and posting about something you plan on doing but have no experience with yet. Prime example of the average post quality around here.

Misses and stumbles are generally tuneup related not engine wear related as is the concern with modifying a high mileage engine.

A few voices of reason saying scale back plans, refresh it or be prepared to deal with failure and you seem to encourage him with your plans about doing a same thing with a LOW mileage motor. Far too much cheerleading about parts people haven't used yet.

I wonder why so few knowledgeable folks post and when they do they are snide, sarcastic or just poking fun at people?

I don't know why people think 123 thousand km's is high mileage?? if you change your oil regularly and do your proper tune ups you should be fine to go. A buddy of mine got a 97 Trans-Am, bolt-on with 197 thousand km's running 12.8's all day long. My car has 97 thousand miles car is a US car, mods in sig and like i typed earlier, i am not even one bit worried about a thing.

What i meant to say is i have no ticking noises or anything coming from my motor not a shake or anything these sbc motors are pretty dam good.
