A4 to TH-400 to A4
A4 to TH-400 to A4 First of all, new to the board. Glad to be on this board instead of asog.net, where we are all 95-00 Avenger/Sebring owners, which are just too slow for my taste and do not look anywhere as good as f-bodies.
Basically I got this car in October of last year and didn't realize it had a TH-400 (with 800 stall
) instead of the stock 4L60-E (it was an A4 originally). So after bumping up to 3.23 gears over the 2.72 that came with the car, I decided to go back to the 4L60-E (better ratios, overdrive). I got a pretty well built one and I'm going to swap it in very soon. I figure the PCM is set to a M6 since the TH-400 has no computer stuff, there are no devices sending false signals to the computer and I do not have any check engine lights. Can I set the car back to an A4 with LT1 Edit or do I need a copy of someone's 95 A4 PCM? Any help is greatly appreciated !

Actually, as crazy as it sounds, I put a 4l60e in and it worked right from the get go. No reprogramming, nothing. Nice to have overdrive and 3.06 first gear, except needed new tires immediately after the swap. I love this car even more now
