Damn didn't think it was that serious, I have a 355 full bolt on big cam, competition ported heads possibly a P600B procharger. I bought a lunati double roller with my setup got a deal on it so why not use it. And like stated I was already getting a EWP. I just see ppl running the CSR, that's roughly 100 cheaper then the HD. wanted to know if I should too. Save money where you can.

I'd lean toward the Meziere HD. They have better reviews from what I've read, and they do pump more.

Damn I didn't think it would go that far. I have a 355 full bold ons, big cam, competition port job on heads, possibly a P600B procharger. But like what was stated I'm getting a EWP, got a double roller from Lunati for cheap so hell why not. Just see tons of guys running CSR, 100 cheaper then the HD. Maybe I was missing something that's all.

I went Meziere HD since I wasn't about to gamble on the cheaper CSR. Draining and replacing water pumps is not something I wanted to do more than I have to. So I spent more for the one that has been praised the most and least amount of reported failures. I have maybe 500mi on mine so I can't speak toward reliability yet.

Like someone said, wire it correctly and add a warning light to come on if something in the circuit or pump fails.

OP

you will have to harvest your rubber 0 ring from the front cover of your MWP to use on the EWP or buy a new one. GM #10128329

17 years ago when I put mine in I bought a used Meziere shortly after as a spare ($50) that I keep in the trunk. More so because if the EWP ever did go out (it was my daily driver then) I could easily replace it (on side of road if needed in 10 min) but more important is a auto part store won't have one and when WP's do go (EWP or MWP eventually will) I didn't want to be in a "have to order from Summit or Jegs or" and wait for one.

Fortunately the spare still sits in the trunk and will replace the one on the car now when it does fail. I will send that one back to Meziere for a $100 rebuild

Wire the pump up with a relay & fuse. There should be several posts/threads/youtube how to's.

Good call on the o-ring. Thankfully my 70Ki stock one was OK to reuse, but for safe measure I put a thin layer of high temp rtv between the mating faces then wiped off any access. I was NOT wanting a leak between the EWP and housing once I filled it up with new coolant. Same went for new water pump to block gaskets...added rtv there too.

OP adding a LED light in the cabin for then the pump 1)loses ground 2) loses power (in the form of a blown fuse etc) is a good safety measure ESPECIALLY if you still have a stock water temp gauge. I'm also running a SpeedHut water temp gauge that has a HI LED warning light built in that I can program to illuminate at any temp. So between the EWP warning light coming on basically ANY time something happens in the circuit (besides impeller breaking and not moving fluid) and my water temp gauge illuminating if the temp gets too hot I am set.

You can wire the EWP warning light using a standard 30A Bosh relay, but use it "in reverse" of how relays are typically used.

High and mighty. Oh you. The butthurt is strong with this one...

I'm not arguing a thing. But hey, you carry on with your little tantrum because you can't handle some "jabs".

I don't know about you, but when someone jabs at me I don't just stand there and get punched.

Let's make this MORE obvious for you. In MY thread I gave advice on a fix for our old high mileage MWP spline couplers, someone else (EWP guy BTW) came in and started the debate (as most MWP threads go). Here, the OP asked which EWP to use (not EWP vs MWP), other users (EWP guys again) brought up the MWP debate and my name. I defended ME. You were saying??
Assuming these are kindergarten jabs at me, within the context of your thread an ewp would have not led to you overheating forcing you to call a tow truck and costing you more than an ewp is worth. Also, we theorized you fucked yourself with the splines stripping but this made you mad and you asked to stop getting picked on.

Seriously guys, grow up and step away from the keyboard. Or PM each other with your banter. This will be the second EWP thread I will unsubscribe from if you 2 keep bitching which is not fair to the OP who was getting useful answers.

It gets annoying...

I run a Meziere. I've had to have it rebuilt before which was done for a $100.00 flat rate because it was leaking. I think the reason why was because the car was not started/coolant drained for a few months and I believe the seal(s) dried up. Probably will have to do it again now that my **** has been stagnant for over a year.

My first pump was a CSI, the second a CSR, a spare. Cools just fine and never an issue. 2 pumps and like 13 years of service and still "pumpin".

I am astounded as to how ridiculous a simple question about an electric waterpump can turn into an emotional drama-fest. Try this: Instead of being emotional about it, state the facts objectively from BOTH sides of the argument. Sounds more constructive, doesn't it?

I won't single out the instigators in this thread personally, but you know who you are. Some of whom we've given warnings to in the past for this type of behavior. The next time will result in a vacation.

The question isn't even about that. It's about which EWP to run.....
