Default 1985 Trans Am

I just bought a 1985 T/A, I want to do an engine swap. How hard is it to get an LT1 from a 1995 T/A into it? Im also open to suggestions on swaps. (Is a manual Transmission),

Welcome to ls1tech!

Your question will be better answered here in the LT1 specific section.

It can be done, but you need a donor car to get all the wiring harnesses ect, and no 1980's T5 trans is going to hold up to any real torque, I believe they are only rated to 300TQ; you could not even get a TPI 350 with them due to too much torque. So you would also need a T56 6 speed. IMO, I would skip the LT1 and go straight to a LS1 or 5.3 LS for all the trouble and money you would have to spend converting to a LT1, while still having an opti and having a hard time getting a tune....it would not cost that much more and would add more value to the car; not to mention more power. Either that or stick with a old school carbed gen 1 350 for cheap!
