Default Who would win?

I have a buddy of mine who wants to run me from a 10mph roll. He thinks has me covered by bus lengths and thinks my car overall cant touch his old school combo. I think otherwise of course….

He has 89 Formula Firebird With a 383 SR Which consist of 10.5:1 static comp, old school ported canfield heads, 1.5 non rr, Holley 750DP, Long Tube headers, Th350 trans with a 3500 converter and 3.73 gears and Drag Radials

My car is 94 Z28 355HR 11.5:1 comp, AI 215 heads, ported intake, 1.6RR, Full Exaust, M6, 4.10 gears, Et streets, No back seats or ac of any kind.

Honestly, I think it will be a close race but for some reason I think I can take him. Your thoughts?

I think your car should take him pretty easily from a roll. It would be much closer from a dead stop depending on how your car hooks being an M6.

Does the firebird have much weight reduction? I think you could probably take him if it's not stripped down, 3rd gen formulas can be light though , but depends on your driving and shifting skills since all he has to do is stomp on the go pedal Only one way to find out!

If you can drive I think he will have a hard time reading your license plate.

I don't even understand why anyone thinks this could be close. He has a full point less compression, with non-roller rockers the cam can't be all that aggressive, outdated heads, Oh small displacement advantage. Maybe he has a weight advantage but even at that if you can row you will walk away.

My 3rd gen camaro weighed around 3300lbs IIRC. He's an auto, most likely lighter and you're a manual. If his **** is put together right I think he'll get you off the line and you'll have to play catch up.

My friend owns a AP1 S2000, full bolt ons on his car, independent rear suspension, and a little weight reduction... Feather light. My car back when all it had was a drop in K&N filter, still got him off the line and really walked off on the 2-3 shift...
My vote is the LT1 will win!

You don't mention your cam, have you had yours at the track or on a dyno? I think his setup sounds like a low 12 second car, yours with an appropriate cam could be mid 11s, from a 10 roll or dig on the street I think you play catchup and by 3rd gear you've got him. The longer the race the farther you'll pull ahead.

Not the most parking lot friendly cam but I've just about got tuning done. Not soggy at all at the bottom and screams up top.
