Default Auxiliary Oil cooler question

So I have a question about running an oil cooler (even though most think that we don't need them) but I want one for peace of mind & longevity. When running one on our wet sump systems do we need an extra auxiliary pump? Can you guys recommend what adapter to get and if I should completely delete the coolant lines that run to the oil filter and reroute the hose straight to the water pump?!

I already have the oil cooler. Use to be my Trans cooler and I just ordered a new B&M 70264. The old cooler is too small imo for my tranny so I'll keep it and use it on my motor oil since stock oil cooler is useless.

Here's my old Trans cooler I'm looking to move over on the drivers side for the oil.

It's supposedly a 24k according to my Trans builder.

You need a signature for us to be able to help you out to the fullest. Is the car a 93?

To delete is easy. 3951644 is the part number for the bolts(2 of them)you need, or you can simply cut off the top of the long bolts that are installed. The hose needed to connect the radiator to WP can be picked up at any parts store, it's listed as a heater hose. I picked up a Gates one from Napa a while back.

94. Do I need a pump for the oil cooler or do the kits run off the motor oil pump?

Put the wrench down and step away from the car.
Engine oil runs at higher pressure than tranny, I wouldn't go repurposing a tranny cooler.
Typical mods include 160 stat and fan temp lowering 30-40 degrees. That helps keep kil cooler. I wouldn't add plumbing which is restriction unless running a road course. Since you are asking if it needs another pump I will go out on a limb and say you are not doing that.
No additional pump, and this is a poor idea at best, drop it.

In what world is that...?

60e line pressure is 55 to 189psi stock. Reverse line is 64-324psi.

OP, personally the hose clamps and cheesy cooler scare me more than you wanting to use it as an oil cooler. Do it right with correct AN fittings and braided line.

I would get a canton spin on adapter, run 12an lines up to a very large cooler and go from there. Setrab etc.

I don't believe the tranny cooler sees internal line pressure.
The b-body has a more traditional oil cooler and they used all threaded and crimped connections, but on the tranny line there is a spring clamp. That would seem to support my presumption.

It doesn't see full line pressure, but a built trans may see over 100psi in that circuit.

Again, semantics, hose clamps are a scary thing IMO.

Too cold of oil is bad for the engine. Oil needs to reach 180 deg or so to burn off moisture. Eng oil in the pan runs about coolant temp.
