Default Wires touching LT headers

Hey everyone,

I have a few wires in my Lt1 engine bay that seem impossible to reposition. They run down from where my engine computer sits(passenger side of 1996 F body)....the wires run to the starter, exhaust 02 sensor, knock sensor, brake ABS... They are right up against the Long tube headers. I have wrapped the wires

in "heat shroud". I do not think they will make it against the heat of the headers though. I have been looking into material made from lava rock, and have emailed a company about there product. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice??

Thanks you!

This is a picture of what I am referring to.

Default Wires touching LT headers

I zip tied mine as tight and out of the way as I could.

Best way to do it is to reposition that part of the harness. Unfasten it, pull it up and out and then put it through the space between primaries 2 and 4. Then zip tie it to the high pressure line of the A/C compressor. IIRC the passenger side O2 plug(s), ignition voltage wire which bolts to starter and knock sensor plug are within that branch.

You won't. I fed the branch through the motor mount. There should be plenty of length for all connections. I've had it that way since 1999. There should be enough then for it to pretty much arch down and stay completely clear of the primaries.

You might have an issue with your ABS wiring on the passenger side. There really isn't enough to relocate and even if it's not touching the primary, in due time the insulation will deteriorate.

You can get a little more length on the ABS wire if you take it out of the plastic clip where it passes under the chassis from the wheel well. For the main harness I was able to get enough slack in it to zip tie it down lower on the heater hard line.
