When mine blew I did the exact same thing. Turned a corner as my car straightened out quickly gave it half throttle and boom. Only a mile from my house and had to get a tow lol. 383 just pooped the ten bolt right out.

More than likely you didn't break all of those teeth off at once. Once you break a couple, the rest come pretty quickly with a sudden application of torque. When I took my 10-bolt apart, it had 2 broken ring gear teeth and one pinion tooth broken. I didn't even know it was broken at the time. Guy who did the work said I was likely one throttle stomping away from catastrophic failure.
