Opinion on optisparks?
The whole MSD opti is NOT that great.
For 95%+ a stock opti with maybe a MSD cap and rotor as a tuneup item. That would add venting to your 94 setup.
The biggest "problem" with the opti is stupid owners who neglect the tuneup basics of a cap and rotor.

I recently serviced my Optispark and spent close to $300 which included a new water pump. I went with an MSD cap and a replacement Optispark unit from Advance Auto. It's been working great with no issues. I also added a flexible line to the water pump weep hole to prevent future corrosion damage. I considered the coil pack conversion but in my opinion it wasn't worth the cost or effort. Yes, the Optispark had some design flaws 1) The ozone venting issue and 2) stupid location directly below a weep hole on the water pump...WHAT was GM thinking?.....but all things considered, many LT1 equipped cars run for a long time without service. $300 every 15 to 20 years isn't to bad in my book.
