Can't speak for 3.73's but I went from the stock 3.42 to 4.10's and love it, it does make 1st and 2nd feel pretty dang short when driving in lower rpms, but there's enough gears (assuming 6 speed) that you won't be revving too high or anything. Made about as much SOTP difference as long tube headers (quite a bit)

You need what rpm you make max power at, and what size final gearing is trans wise, along with tire height. Match that in calculators with what you expect to trap based off your HP/Tq and voila, you have found your gearing.

Or be typical LT1 owner and run 4.10s in an auto and complain first gear is worthless! #LT1logic

EDIT: OP; Listen to show no mercy if your concerned with 1/4 mile ET's, or just looking for a fun street car, listen to shbox. There's some in between gears like 3.90s or 3.92s, but I'd stick with the traditional 3.73 or 4.10s.

3.73s for auto and 4.10s for manual is he general consensus but I know a few auto guys that are happy w/ 410's. Guess it all depends on what you plan on doing w/ the car, fuel concerns, etc.

I've heard that in the 7.5 the pinion gets very small w/ anything numerically higher then 373's in a stock A4.

You're absolutely correct. I failed to realize or mention that I run a 12 bolt.
