I feel as though I am being treated like a child here with the TB lol... I know it needs to be tuned to properly run or I will experience surging esp since I have a cc503.... And honestly I am willing to guineapig the intake and do a dyno comparison with it on the car if someone is willing to help out with the tune.... I live in PA and I am local to Brain from PCM4> and I dont like his tune @ all... Currently what is run in my car now and it put down nice numbers 373rwhp 360rwtq but the drivability of the tune is horrible, has horrible cam surge gets 9Mpg, its just way off for a DYNOTUNE...

You missunderstand, the aftermarket TBs don't idle right without physical modification to them, the Idle Air Control lacks a bleed hole the stock TB has, easy to drill but a little hassle to get drilled to the right size. Some of them actually have the circuit broken and dump the IAC air into the plenum at the wrong place.

Count me a displeased FORMER Bryan Herter customer too, he seems to only put effort into cars that will get recognized. The average car is halfassed out the door fast as possible.
You should get double that mileage if the car is mechanically in order and tuned decently. Mine does with an automatic, in a bigger car with a fair bit more power.

I use TTS Datamaster but there seems to be a newer option and send logs to my tuner which is pcmperformance.

LOL right!!!! My car is purrrrttttyyy to say the least he couldnt shut up with how nice it looked. But it really was the quickest dyno tune I ever seen.... I swear if I was there longer than 30mins with him dynotuning it that would be an understatement.... Very very unhappy with his work... But atleast I hope I got a decent base tune to go with so I can retune it myself... I am looking into @Steve's tuning methods, or I may do the rental tune from SOLOMON.... Guess I'll pass on this intake setup...... All I really wanted was my stocker ported to 52mm, or even a used 52mm bbk or edely that I could get ported to 54mm... But I can't find a ported to do that work...

Anyone interested in this intake and tb setup PM me I'll put you in touch with the guy....

If this setup would net 15rwhp with the intake and tb I would get it.... Y'all sure I couldnt maybe get that outta it lol

Pass on the intake.

A good deal on a bad product IS NOT a good deal.

I got three stock LT1 intakes sitting in my garage.

Buy one and send it to Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction to be poorted and you'll end up with an intake that's miles better than stock, let alone that Edelbrock intake!

Jus' sayin'.

OK.....should've read all the posts before I responded, above.

But yeah.....pass on the intake. As been mentioned, you will not get a honest 15HP gain with this setup.

At best, you'll end up with zero gain.....at worse, you'll end up with a loss.

The plenum is smaller than stock and not just a little, wrong direction to go for performance.

Besides the stock intake can work pretty darn well unported.

The "value" to this thing might be a show car where the AirGap design and powdercoat are cool.

The powder coated intake is certainly in the category of "poser mods"...like Caprice says it looks nice at car shows

It just didn't prove to be any performance gain

OP

on larger aftermarket TB's (other than stock rebores) you need a scan tool that can read IAC counts. This is because they typically have idle issues, especially on H/C cars, where they stall because IAC is maxed out. You need to drill a hole where stock one is BUT...and it is a big BUT....you need scan software to read wtf your IAC counts are before blindly drilling one. The process is simple....you just need scan tool to do it correctly to measure what IAC counts are as you drill since the hole will be between 1/8" and 13/64"....you need to drill in 1/64" increments after 1/8" and measure IAC each time

58mm was fine on my car with bolt-ons, but needed the drill mod when I put H/C on it. I wanna say 11/64 was the magic number for my old 58mm TB to get my IAC counts in the right range.

Also epoxied in a small piece of aluminum to isolate the IAC path and keep it from dumping into the plenum.

I've ran both the cheap PP/Summit cast TBs and the beautiful solid billet AS&M pieces and they both needed the mod.

yeah 11/64" is the size I wound up with on my stock TB that was bored to 52mm on my 383 build. The same TB was fine with the stock 1/8" hole for my H/C 350 motor. 383 has a slightly larger cam but same ported heads as the 350 did.

BUT...each motor is different so scan software/tool is needed to read IAC counts as you proceed. IAC counts want to be 30-35 (32) at idle with engine at operating temp. (no AC on)
