Cam upgrade'n..... Got the cc503 currently it put out 373rwhp 350rwtq. I'm throwing a set of ported heads on there in the spring. Peak flow was 254cfm .500-.600ish on the intake nothing fancy. But decent... I can get an XFI467 for a decent price, but would there be a difference over the cc503 in there now.... Any suggestions??? Emissions is a non-factor for me... 4.10rear t56 w/ C.F. Dual friction clutch. 4.030 forged flat tops stock rods recon'd stock crank cleaned balanced with rods and pistons..... Looking to hit 400rwhp, more would be better of course but I'd like to have a modest 400... Springs are 130# closed 350# open or it maybe otherway around lol... 2.00 int 1.57 ext valves.... Help me out plssss...:bomb: |
You made 373rwhp with stock heads? |
Yes sir... Rebuilt motor... So freshened up heads..... |
Sure, the XFI467 will make more than the CC503, but not with those springs at 130# seat. With good heads and in front of an M6, it should make at least 400 at the tires. Can you post that dyno graph of the CC503 with stock heads? |
I'd look into the heads if you want anymore power. What dyno did you do it on? Dynojet? STD Corr? |
IDK what dyno was used, wte Injection Connection in Horsham PA uses lol. Bryan from PCM4less did the tune, I dont have the paperwork from the session I was there when the original owner had it done and I am going from what I was told after it was tuned there... Honestly it dont even feel like 370rwhp... It feels a little stronger than my buddies hotcam car that put out 340ish rwhp |
Either it was a happy Dyno or you have a KILLER compression ratio.. It seems like all the cam only builds I see pegs out around 360rwhp for some reason.. |
Probably STD correction. charts I have from Bryan's tunes from long ago are STD. About 2.5% difference, so it would be about 363 SAE. |

Like I said it feels around 340ish... And its 11.5 compression ATM |

Eh.... The concensses on here is everyone seems to like this cam.... Me on the other its okay..... I had the 224/236 in a different car and it seemed like it def pulled harder was also on a loser LSA... Was a 114LSA... But if this cam can do 400rwhp I'll keep it... But I am open to better suited cam's |
The most I've seen a CC503 make, with home-ported heads, is 385 SAE (about 395 STD). That was through an A4. So, with heads like LE2's or AI's 190's or 200's, 400 to the tires through an M6 is very do-able. |
These are locally shop ported heads like I said .240ish cfm from .500-.600 give or take in between there... I have 1.7 roller rockers I could swap out for my comp 1.6's also when I do this swap. I just always figured throwing 1.7's in the mix would just add stress to the valvetrain so I never used them. |
If you're serious about a significant bump in power over what the CC503 can do, then I think, before you buy any parts, you should just talk to Lloyd Elliott or Advanced Induction about a custom cam setup to complement whatever heads you're going with. The springs you have right now won't support any more than the CC503 with 1.6's. LE's custom cams are comparable in price to many off-the-shelf cams. |
I've got a new set of crane 10308-1 from an old build also I never used lol. Yea I got an email into him, along with cam motion, and lunati |

yea it does, I loved that cam...... But shhhhh!!! dont tell people thats its better than the cc503 you'll be beheaded lol |
