The rest of the variables in builds like that can easily account for more of a difference than simply which brand of ported stock heads someone is running.
For instance, my stock shortblock AI setup with the 200cc heads makes right around 405rwhp, due to the restrictive Y-pipe I installed when I put this setup together just because it was what I had laying around to get the car back on the road.
My heads and cam are an identical setup to the one several others on here have made in the neighborhood of 430 with. I've been meaning to remedy that and 'get back' 15-20rwhp by installing a better Y-pipe and merge, but haven't found the time or motivation to do it yet mainly because I stay busy in life and like to go fishing more than I like to work under a car. Meanwhile, there are some similar LE2 cars out there that make a handful more numbers more than I do, likely because they're running a better exhaust or whatever other reason but it's not because they're running better heads. It's really not a big deal. As I've said before on here, I went with AI mainly because I had known of Phil dating back 10+ years to the old CZ28.com days, and his shop is only a couple hours down the road from me.
I completely agree. I was more pointing out that the difference between the LE and AI porting isn't as big as is being commented here. The AI DOES flow better, I don't think anyone is arguing against that. But, AI will not gain 80HP over a comparable LE set up. 10-20 is reasonable, even 25-20 could be argued. But 80 is ridiculous.

Yes it would.....and would cost the experimenter about $6K to $8K in parts, dyno tuning and labor.

Anyone with that kind of cheese to spread on a LT1 experiment ain't running cars with LT1's in 'em.

Exactly. And you aren't going to learn anything that isn't already known from everyone's observation of hundreds of builds over the years.
