Default Serpentine belt

Hi I just replace the Serpentine belt on my 1993 P trans Am 5.7 LT1.
It appears that after routing it correctly. That the groove side of the S-belt doesn't engaged with the groove side power steering pump pulley. Rather it just rides on the smooth side of the belt. After coming down from the alt it goes underneath the ps pulley to the crank. I wouldn't even say that the ps pulley is as grooved as the alt or a/c pulley either.

Is this correct?

Yes exactly. I was just surprised at where it rides on the smooth side of the belt under the ps pump. Thanks for the pic

It works fine as long as the belt tensioner is good. Some have experienced it squeak if they put on an underdrive crank pulley and get a belt that is too long.
