Default Another OPTI thread.

Alrighty folks this has been beaten to death and then some more. But here we go!!!!! I am replacing my OPTI again 5th one in 2months and I am beyond tired of it.. I should of went with DELCO or DELPHI from the start but didnt, here is where I stand now.... I got a DURALAST unit, which I am defect exchanging again... But I am only using the Alum. base from it this this. I have purchased a factory Mitsu optical sensor which I am going to put in the duralast, and also use a new MSD Cap and Rotor... My question is will I have any issues using the duralast 360* rotor with the mitsu OS??? I should have kept my factory opti from the jump because it ended up not being the problem after all. So after many dollars and many hours and replacements I am hoping to finally have a factory type opti.... The mitsu optical sensor should be fine to use in the duralast base with the duralast wheel right? And how do I got about sealing the actual unit the MSD comes with o-rings but I know I should seal it beyond that also, where and how much and what type should I use? I have an unlimited supply of clear rubber silicone type RTV would that be fine to use? And I know to thread lock all the internal screws too with RED type T/L.. Anything I am missing? Do I need to degree this wheel or take any precautions when reinstalling it??? At this point it will be a 100% new opti unit.... I got lucky and found someone selling a brand new mitsu optical unit, and dammit if it doesnt look brand spankin new!!!! Got the MSD cap and rotor kit, I know I could just reuse the new duralast cap and rotor, but at this point in the game I am tired of replacing this thing every 250miles it seems and hope that with the mistu OS this cure this issue.... Feedback, help, comments?

The disc should be fine, if it's cut to spec. That's a big assumption. Also, you'll want to make sure the drive side and rotor side of the Opti are pressed (clocked to each other) correctly too. Sometimes those cheap units come pressed together wrong. The disc only goes on one way.

Yea its not a chinese ebay one, had one and that sucker lasted 30second before the bearings imploded. LOL. The duralasts are fine for like 200 miles than throw the resolution code. hahaha just using it for the base though

A resolution code could be a bad disc or optical sensor or harness/wire. If it worked for a while, odds are it's the sensor or a wire.

Well it's still a a duralast base..... But i got an MSD rebuild kit on it, found an actual new Mitsubishi optical sensor put that in it and sealed it up with clear silicone..... Only thing left duralast on it is the aluminum base..... And that is brand new also cause I exchanged the old for a new one just so I had a fresh base and wheel to start wit... Only thing that concerns me now is the rotor screws are in but I forgot to put them washers on included in the kit and I got it all locktited I can't get them out now lol so I'm not going to worry bout it.... It's my frankenopti..... Hahahaha
