Default 96 Z28 - Kooks headers

Just wanted to ask members on here that have a LT1 Camaro with Eibach Sportline springs and Kooks headers ... I have a 96 Camaro Z28 and it is dropped a little over 2 inches and it does rub on some speed bumps around town. Will I be able to install Kooks LT headers on my car or will they rub way too much? I love the look of the springs, but they are a pain around town and I'm considering going with something less aggressive if need be.

I also want to know what Kooks is describing on their website about their headers only working with their setup.

Description from Kooks website:

Must be used with Kooks Y-Pipe or True Dual System

I have the Madhammer (GMMG) exhaust on my Camaro so will the Kooks work with my setup or will I need to purchase other pipes to make the headers work?

Thanks

Pics and video of my '96 Z28.

My review and install writeup here....

If you have a 2" inch drop it's going to be pretty close to the ground. Both in the SD and HD video I show ground clearance. The SD is on a flat surface, the HD is sitting on an incline.

I'm at stock ride height with the FE2 suspension option. I also have energy suspension poly motor mounts.

I did measure for someone on my garage surface one day and here is what I came up with for clearance.

Sitting in my garage, the lowest point is the cat on the drivers side at 3.5". The bottom of the driver's long tube is 4". The passenger's is 4.5" on both the cat and bottom of the header. For reference, the k-member is 5".

You must use a kooks y pipe or have one custom made...but the kooks y pipe will mate perfectly with your GMMG so long as your GMMG isn't hacked up or anything. I have a 94 firehawk with kooks headers and y pipe and I've had a gmmg on the car. My car is lowered 1.25 inches and have never scraped the pipes.

Also if you are really thinking about kooks headers call Maryland speed. They murder online list pricing if you call. I've gotten some killer deals with them on several sets.

I do have the Kooks cat'd y-pipe. I got mine from Maryland Speed as well. I didn't call(online ordered), but if they give $$$$ off for calling in an order that is awesome.

Yeah they will always beat everyone else's prices and they have always said to call for a better deal. I have bought 4 sets and they were absolutely killer deals when you factor what they are listed for. I've heard of a few guys getting awesome deals on the duals kooks sells also.

Great write up and videos ACE. I will definitely have to check to clearance, but I'll be calling Maryland to see what kind of deal I can get on some Kooks.

I have Kooks headers and a GMMG exhaust on my car. You aren't going to find any headers for these cars that fit or tuck up better than Kooks. I'm not sure when they did it, but they've redesigned the merge on their y-pipes. It's a much nicer merge in comparison to the y-pipe I got from them in 2005-2006.

I also bought from Maryland Speed and I had mine ceramic coated.
