Default 24x LT1 conversion revisited

Hi all.....I'm new to the forum but have been looking at postings on this subject for some time.....have gleaned a lot of good info but it seems the posts are a few years old in many cases......I'm thinking a lot of people have moved on to the LS power plant but I'm stuck in midstream on a project and need to finish it with the LT! setup I have...... what I have is a 63 Nova hardtop with a 96 LT1 out of a Corvette.....it is stock right now but at some point I would like to step the cam up a little.....I purchased a T56 out of an Impala SS to replace the original 4L60E....the rear is a narrowed 9" with 4:11 Truetrac pumpkin.....

My original thought was to revert to the early LT1 (94-95) PCM to allow some tuning easily but the more I read on this 24x conversion the more I am leaning that way....

I do a have couple of questions hopefully someone out there can answer....

1) The initial tune on the LS computer should actually basically be the LT1 tune for a 96 Corvette with a few tweaks like injector firing order etc. and in my case change in trans correct?

2) Does anyone have experience with the newest EFI connections kit?.....I had read some posts that sensor alignment was a problem for some and was wondering of that has been corrected.

Thanks in advance for any info you can supply

Sounds like you will have a nice fun car once it is all complete. The LT1 might not be best engine out there, but I am sure you will be happy with it.

As far as the tune, there are a couple changes that need to be made and then the actual tune itself.
My kit is about 1.5 years old and I have been having issues with the crank sensor. At this point, I still don't know if it is kit or my aftermark eagle crank. I have spoke with EFI multiple times, along with my tuner and Chad at Golen Engines. Everyone has been great to work with and we have made great strides with the car, but it is still only running at 90%.
As far as the newest kits this year, I am not sure if any changes have been made and I do not know know anyone that has purchased one recently.

People do swap T56s into the Impalas quite often. He probably just bought one from an old swap.

Look into TorqHead 24x conversion as well. It is more of an external setup not requiring to remove the timing cover to install. Also has what seems to be a more robust sensor alignment method.

I have the efi connection 24x converson on my 89 trans am (old TPI car) and had to upgrade to the new reluctor wheel and crank sensor.

I had problems with the old crank sensor also.

No problems with the new one, but I do keep one in my glove box as a spare, since they seem to come into contact with the reluctor wheel sometimes.
