Default Valve covers

Is there any way to relocate the alternator to get more clearance for after-market valve covers? I was given a Christmas present pair of Billet Specialties Covers and would like to use them. Thanks

Depending on the height of the covers, you may be able to notch the back of the alternator to make them fit. I have some polished aluminum covers that I used, and was able to make them fit that way.

I agree, I have the 1/4" taller Proforms on mine. Try and bolt the passenger side on.

People have ground down the alt case and also taken the rear case of alt and rotated it so the recessed part of the case clears the aftermarket VC

You just remove the 3 bolts holding the two case halves together and rotate the rear one and re-assemble. You do need to use a paper clip to hold in the brushes when splitting the two halves apart and re-assembly

I think most of the kits for alt relocation delete the ac. I have some pretty tall covers and even with turning and grinding the alternator it will never fit mine. Give it a shot and if not, try to sell them and buy some lt1 specific covers or you can cut and weld a notch in the covers. That's my plan.

This is a Buick Roadmaster engine. The bracket and much smaller alternator on the 94 truck I'm putting it in might work Anybody know who I can get to rework the harness and re program the PCM to get it running so I can get it to the dyno?
