1996 impala ss alternator fix
any one knows how to test the rectifier, the internal voltage regulator, brushes and brushes holder and the 2 bearings?
thanks for help.
It is possible that it has developed an internal short, causing the battery to drain after two weeks.
thanks for help.

the regular car can sit for 6 months with a fresh battery and then the battery will get drained not 2 weeks.
I tried pulling fuses but the amperage was even 0.00 amps even less than the 0.02 amps that is OK.
now it is more than 2 months with this situation,
the thing is vague to me I don't know what to do?

I talked to the Chevrolet dealer today and he told me the battery for my impala is AC Delco 74-60 maybe because the LT1 cars from 1994 to 1996 that was imported to Kuwait by the dealer that some of them were running with out O2 sensors and all of them were running on open loop (PCM), there is no closed loop for these cars at that time.
tomorrow I will get that battery and check, hope it is not an internal short.
thanks for help.
.
you can use any battery brand you want. Unless the export Impala used a different series battery, a 78 series from any brand would work
hope the 74-60 battery will last a good time better than the 78A-72 battery.

the #'s after 74 or 78 like 60 or 72 mean what the rated lifespan of the battery is (60 months or 72 months)
if your battery is dieing a few weeks after no use there is likely a parasitic drain from something on the car (hood/trunk light, glove box light, etc. or a short somewhere keeping a active circuit open drawing from the battery and killing it. Or your chargeing system is not working properly.
I believe you mentioned 14.3-14.6 VDC was what your meter said when car is running which is good/correct suggesting the charging system is functioning correctly
