Default Need some help with my build

Hey guys I am finally up grading my lt1 so what I got so far is a lt4 hotcam, 1.6 scorpion roller rocker arms, Chevrolet Performance Small Block V8/V6 Individual Valve Springs 12551483, and Trick Flow® Adjustable Pushrod Length Checkers TFS-9000. This is my first build and I was wondering is there anything I am missing. My last question is I want to get my heads ported by a local machine shop but I don't know what specs would work for this set up please help thanks in advance

Good on you for checking the pushrod length most just slap on the 1.6 rockers. If your motor is apart you might check into some ls7 lifters 89-100 bucks on ebay. Some folks say you should make the pushrod guide holes bigger but I'm not 100% one way or the other. I went none self aligning rocker on mine so the machine shop had to open the hole up with a 1/2" drill bit and installed guides. My heads are iron though, no screw in stud so since I was getting them put in that influenced my decision. I also got 2.02/1.64 valves put in but no real porting.

What other mods have been done to the car?

You need to open up the exhaust or you will see virtually no gains with the stock exhaust manifolds on it. Ask me how I know.

You may want to look at a better spring than the stock LT4.

I wouldn't touch the lifters if they are ok, the LS7s have a far higher failure rate than the 20 year old stock ones. As said, long tubes are critical to allowing all of that new air in to get out to make power. Also don't forget a mail order tune! No hypertech, hypertech is worthless.

What seems to be the issue with them?

OP

those springs were intended for the lighter sodium filled LT4 valves. Your valves are heavier and would need more spring with that cam.You should consider another spring choice. The Crane 10308 is a direct drop in spring that would work well with your cam. There are other spring options

Get new valve stem seals also

I would send my heads to Lloyd Elliott for porting. He would also recommend/provide a spring also.

Depending on what head gasket thickness you go with and how much the heads get milled...you likely need a shorter push rod so you will need to measure once heads are back on the car. Generally 7.150 or 7.100 are common but every build is diffrent so measure.

FWIW, I found that this doohickey made pushrod measurement & selection stupidly easy.
