Kind of amazing that you just happened to run across it after all these years. It still looks like it's still in really good shape too!

Question Opti Part #

Just to be sure that I am looking at the right opti, does anyone have the gm part # I should be looking for? This is what I found (19212300) It is a 1996, so it is the vented one. Someone mentioned that some of them through GM werent the actual one I want, so I am a bit confused. Thanks for the help guys.

What I've noticed about optis is this: The Delco ones are drying up and and are remans themselves now. IMO the best long term option seems to be the MSD due to the fact that they can be rebuilt for much less than a new opti costs. That being said, I have a spline driven MSD thats been going on 2 different motors for roughly 7 years. Without issue.

Just throwing in my 2 cents.

Default I know the feeling...

Saw your story and couldn't get over how much it reminded me on my recent experience. Except mine was less work...

Sold my 96' z28 over 5 years ago to a farmer who lived an hour away. 6 months ago I stumbled across the car on craigslist. So I went and looked at it. He had only driven it 2000 miles in 5 years and kept it in a clean garage up on blocks. It was like it was in a time capsule. Nothing needed. Bought it back for the same price I sold it to him for. Except he just put on new front tires, a new battery, and painted the rear bumper to fiz a few cracks. Worked out nice and I haven't regretted having it back.

Enjoy her new/old car bud. I know I love having mine back. Here is a pic...

Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing BCook, that is a very clean looking car. It is so nice to hear some of these stories. It is very rare for me to even see an LT1 on the road anymore, much less being taken care of. Hopefully I will be posting more in the near future. All the parts have been lined up, just waited on the S60 from Strange. This should be enough to get the car going for now, and then I will hopefully start on the 396 stroker this fall.

I hope you guys had a great St. Pattys Day. It is always a memorable day for me since I brought home my 2000 SS 17 years ago on this day.

I just picked up 0169 from the original owner. It is rough and has 130K on it but runs well. I will restore and do little mods so I can return back to stock. So I am in same boat as you. Good luck with yours.

Is the LS1 99 and up tank a direct swap? I am going to install a ls1 drive shaft as first mod.

Thumbs up Nice

Congrats on your purchase Mike! That is cool you got it from the original owner. I will be back in a few weeks with some pics as my car is being worked on now.

As far as the tank is concerned, I am sure someone will correct me, but you can get it to work but I am not sure if it is worth it. It is a 16.8 gal tank vs. 15.5, and it is plastic. I dont know if I would worry about the driveshaft unless it needs replaced. Not sure what your goals are, but if you get a stronger rear like a Strange S60, you will need a shorter driveshaft anyway. (Strange makes some nice precut ones.)

In the case of my car, I chose to do the fuel pump, rearend and driveshaft at once just to be efficient so I am not removing and replacing stuff over again. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks. Look forward to pictures.

I might pass on tank. I have the driveshaft from my 99 and its an improvement. I won't really mod this sans the LT4 stuff I have stashed. One money pit fbomb is enough
