Having throttle response and starting issues I have a 95 trans am lt1 and was wondering why the car is having starting issues and bad throttle response. The car seems to want to die when you give it gas and doesn't start at times. Replaced optispark, icm, coil, and nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas?

Also, the car starts at times on the 3rd or 4th time, just off and on inconsistent starts with it. Have to give it gas to keep it running and won't properly idle. All ignition stuff has been replaced but plugs and wires. Have a fuel filter for it and the wires and plugs but haven't got around to changing either.

95lt1fb is one of my good friends, looked at the car today and discovered that with the key on it builds 2-3 lbs of fuel pressure. While cranking the car has no fuel pressure what so ever. I'm going to pull the fuel rails and check for leaky injectors. The previous owner also said that the fuel pump had been replaced, a trap door under the rear carpet is evidence of this.

The injectors checked out. Like I said the car will build 2-3 lbs and then it will drop off, won't hold pressure. The previous owner lied about replacing the opti with an MSD unit when in fact it had the 22 year old factory unit still on it. Going to replace the fuel filter for ***** and giggles tomorrow morning.

Fuel filter first, then check the pressure again. If the fuel pressure is still low, swap out the FPR. Generally a leaky injector or fuel rail wont lose you more than a few PSI and if one is leaking that bad, the smell of gasoline would be extremely strong with a leak of that size.
The general order of things to check/replace with fuel pressure issues when you are strapped for cash and don't have the diagnostic tool available are:
1. Filter
2. Fuel Pressure Regulator
3. Pump
