Default P0101 Possible Causes

Last fall I put a Cammotion LLSR in my car and everything was problem free. Got the car retuned after the install and later in the winter got a P0101 check engine light. Car now starts harder and doesn't run as well. I can reset it and as soon as I do a WOT pull it pops right back up. I have tried cleaning and swapping the MAF and that doesn't help one bit.

Any ideas on what to check for besides the MAF?

I've had a P0100 before on my SS which was just a MAF issue, but not P0101. I've had that code on my 04 Tahoe though and it was intake manifold gaskets. Hope that leads you in the right direction.

Ok, I will check for vacuum leaks.

The circuit could be faulty as well. Check for damaged wiring.

also I believe it is possible to plug the MAF connector on backwards (if you try hard enough...make sure the plug is on right.

This is what resolved the code on another LT1 I had read

or as mentioned possible wiring of that MAF connector

FWIW

I'd suspect that would trigger a P0100, not a P0101.

P0101 - Mass Airflow System Performance

The short version is the PCM looks for a certain value indicating a certain amount of air ingested by the MAF, based on data from the MAP, TPS, and IAT. If they don't match, it goes into SD mode and ignores the MAF. Check for vacuum leaks, torn intake elbow, or any other post-MAF vacuum leaks that will let the other sensors see more air than the MAF does.

Haven't found the problem but have eliminated a couple possible causes so far. The wiring for the TPS and the sensor itself tested good. The MAP sensor is also reading correctly. I will check for vacuum leaks post MAF and report back. Whatever it is seems to be throwing my fuel trims way off. Maxing out my short trims in the negative at times.
