Default New Trans Cooler - Add Fluid??

Hey Guys, quick question for you. I am completing a cam swap and many other projects including new 3.73 gears and Yank 3600 stall. I pulled the motor and now have it back in, finishing up the little stuff. I just installed a aux trans cooler and finished all the plumbing. My question is, should I be adding more fluid or not? I seem to see conflicting answers whenever I search the posts. Logically it seems like I should as I increased capacity, it also seems like I would just be locking a bunch of air into the system, is there a way to bleed it? Don’t have the car running/driving yet so I want to try and figure this out before I finish everything up. Please let me know your thoughts.

Check your fluid level. With a 4l60e it's ok to over fill half a quart to prevent 3-4 clutch apply starvation at wot. Overfill about 1/8 - 1/4 in. over the full line.

As far as bleeding, there is nothing to bleed in the 4l60e. It is not a air tight system like a cooling system. You will not lock in any air and there is actually a breather pipe at the top of the transmission

Thank you sir! That answered most of my questions. I will plan on checking the fluid level once I have it back on the ground and level. Probably wouldn’t hurt to check it a few times after driving too and the fluid starts to circulate.

I would pull the pan, clean it and install a new filter. Refill with Dexron VI. It will hold like 10 qt. Make sure it's on the full mark before you drive it. Check it with the motor running.

while the entire trans and TC hold about 10 qts....you only drain out about 4 qts by dropping pan and changing filter

basically put back in the amount you drain out. once the tranny is up to operating temp, check fluid level and add if needed
