96 LT1 starter overheating

96 LT1 starter overheating 96 Trans Am 6 spd. The car starts up fine the first time when cold, but after it heats up at all the starter is extremely slow to turn, often not starting at all. Alternator tested fine. It has also broken multiple starters before. I think a mini starter with a heat wrap might be the best plan, but I wanted to see if anyone disagrees with that. Also, remanufactured Corvette starters like this one will work fine for an F Body right?

check that your battery cables are solid.
That is the starter to get. Autozone has them...lifetime guarantee. New Denso.
That rebuild is a little cheaper. Its a gear reduction type, better than the stock type.

A few years ago, i went to the parts store and told them I was working on a 96 corvette Grand Sport. They took my old f-body starter in as the core charge no problem. Definitely a way better setup than the factory behemoth.
