Default Starter problems--suggestions?

I have broken 3 nose cones on my starter in the last 3 years. I've only put 6,000 miles on the car in the last 3 years and still have broken 3 nose cones. I pulled into the autoparts store today and got my gaskets/seals for my cam swap, come back, and there's that wonderful noise. Anyone have any suggestions on a good starter for the LT1? I don't know if the starter itself is bad this time, or just the broken housing. I'm thinking though that I need a new one altogether. Anyone know right off hand if the aftermarket ones fit up? I would think they would. Which flywheel do we have (as far as teeth go)?

I switch over to a lighter weight mini starter, its from from CVR. It bolts in great, didnt need to shim it at all. Its fully adjustable and at the time $146 from Jegs. Easy to install, they show you were you have to cut it for the oil pan.

My vote would go for an lt4 starter since you have a decent amount of compression.

Here's a review.

Sounds like a good choice either way. I'm gonna try another housing on this same starter one more time. I'll play with my Digital 6 a little and retard the timing and see if that doesn't help.
