Default New Times for the LT!

Well after getting my 383 LT1 put back together correctly I finally was able to hit the track again. It was pretty hot on Friday so I'm sure cooler air would help a bit but I'm happy for now. haha When I started running the temp was 87 and the car was heat soaked from idling waiting to go but the car ran 11.9 @ 118mph. Then my 2nd run an hour or 2 later yielded me a low 12 @ 120.7 mph. (I spun 1st gear on this run) The temps were in the low 80's at this point. The last run I got I missed 3rd but of course I had a good launch. After that the "trigger wire" came off the starter and I couldn't shut the car off without having to pop-start the car so we all left. I'm excited to see what the car will run come fall with cooler temps. All of these runs were around a 2.0 60 ft. No better than 2.0 but probably no worse than 2.3. I don't remember the specifics because I left my time slips at my buddies house so I don't have them currently.

One run a foxbody took me out of the hole and I ran him down. He gave me quite the dirty look as I waited for him to take his turn. (I was in the outside lane) He was running mid-upper 12's. I had fun.

383, LE1.5 heads, 3.73's, EWP, 52mm TB, bolt ons, LE cam, T-56 in my 84' Corvette. I have a few vids, I just have to upload them.

Just wanted to share my new times.

EDIT: Here is some video! The announcer all night seemed like a Mustang guy. Listen to him. I beat the stang but he mentions right off the bat how he beat me out of the hole. haha Sorry also because my buddy cut the video off too short.

Great times for the setup and weather. It will pick up big time in the fall air.

Great trap speeds....I think your times could come down into the 11.70/11.80 range with you running 120mph. My buddy ran 11.63 @ 120 on a hot day last week so you’re right there.....nice runs man.

which LE cam are you running?

You need to run a 27" bias ply drag tire on a 15" wheel and a steeper gear. Your announcer buddy won't be saying that anymore.

It's the 239/247 .587/.600 112 LSA cam. Lloyd recommended this cam when we talked about the 383 I was putting together.

I'm hoping the conditions were pretty crappy because 2 of my buddies were running cam/bolt on LT1 Firebirds and both of them were running 14.4's... Those are stock times! Slower than stock times! Could need a driver mod but still... I would have to ask them what they MPH'ed.

Yea I'm a big LT fan. The Firebirds are one good looking machine. I used to have an 89' Camaro and I really miss that car. I'll get another F-body someday.

I plan on going again in late August or September so the temps will be cooler plus the Friday night T&T goes into the evening so it should be quite cool. (This last time we arrived at 6pm and didn't leave until 10) Fingers Crossed for a little bit better time!

Also for reference a stock LT1 C4 that came with us was running mid 14's as well. (14.4-14.5) LT1 C4's are capable of high 13's stock. I'm really hoping the air quality was that bad.

Well I went to the track again Saturday. Had much cooler air. I believe it was in the mid to upper 60's.

Best time was 11.5 @ 120mph (1.77 60') and best MPH was 11.6 @123 (1.89 60'). Started having wheel hop issues which prevented me from launching the car harder. Still she ran good so I'm happy with the times. I'm on NT05's right now, guess I need NT05R's to try to get more traction to eliminate wheel hop. (Dog bones are poly bushings)

I'll post a few videos soon.

Nice runs! If you’re running 11.50s with a bad launch you definitely need a slick as mentioned. If you’re sticking with a DR, go with the Mickey Thompson ET Street SS....they hook!

get that baby hooked up and you’re running 11.30s! Can’t wait to see your vids!

Outside view of a 11.76 @ 122 run. Little bit of wheelhop. Ran a Cobra.

Inside view of my 11.5 @ 120 run. Ran a 5th gen Camaro.

I would't think the launches are bad BUT there is certainly room for improvement with more tire. I think street radials are as far as I'll go. Got a 3.73 Dana 36...
