Default Project car build looking for knowledge and input

Hey everyone I just bought my 93 camaro Z28. I've had plans to make one hell of a car but I'm a young buck and like always am super naive. I'm looking at putting a 383 stroker kit new cams headers heads crank and pretty much a whole rebuild. I thought about boring ththe engine over .30 over but I know an engine like this wont last long. I also have the option to drop a 6.2L but would that engine fit? And what option would be more cost effective and overall creative the faster car. I'm from a family of racers and it's my turn to get on the track.

While the Gen 2 LT1 is the red headed stepchild of GM SBC and the LSx is a far newer and better engine platform....you can make good power with the LT1, especially stroker (383) with all the right supporting mods AND tune.

BTW to get a "stroker" (383) you do bore .030 over and get a stroker crank

LT1 would be more plug & play but if you want to jump into a LSx swap many have been done but it will cost more in the end

Well, if you were to switch over to a 6.2L LS engine you would need to get a donor car with the K-member, steering rack-and-pinion components, PCM, OBD II system, and everything else required and transplant it into your 93 Camaro Z28. If you try to purchase these parts all individually you will be in serious debt. I looked into an LS swap for my car not too long ago and I ruled it out simply because of the cost and all the supporting components needed AND to find a salvage donor car with everything I needed. I am sticking with my LT1, besides, the engine has grown on me.

As ****** stated, you can make yourself a pretty fast LT1 with supporting modifications. I will also throw this out there since I am a "troll" with regards to wanting to swap a non-LT1 intake on my engine for my rather laughable project in the future. On top of the stroker, you could benefit from using the stealth ram intake on the LT1, although you will need to bump a notch into the overhead wiper cowl to get it to fit. I hope my comment inspired you some and best of wishes to you on your project to make one hell of a fast 1993 Camaro Z28 on the track!

Moving to an LSx would offer the most long term performance, since it is current tech. The SBC still offers a lot of possibilities.GEN2 has limited support. The LS requires a 98-02 LS donor for necessary parts or aftermarket k member. The engine is intended to go in from under car. The 93 has limited clearance because of cowl covering half of engine. 383 LT1 should make 450 hp fairly easy. At the same time junk yard 5.3s are turboed making more horsepower for less money. Not to knock the GEN 4 F body ; IMO a GEN 3 can make for a better racer. I would seriously consider going the LS route.
