Default Will this cam work?

Selling my old 396 stoker to a friend to drop in his F body. I originally had it in my 96 Impala with Lloyd Elliot LE2’s and a .585/.544 236/244 112 LSA cam. Fast forward some years, I put Advanced Induction 200cc heads/ported intake on it and received a custom grind cam from AI that is almost identical to the old one save for maybe a degree or two added to duration and a little more lift. It was actually spec’d for a supercharged setup but it is damn near identical to the n/a cam Golen spec’d me for my LE2’s.

anyway, my friend wants a very streetable setup. It’s a 6 speed car, not a drag car by any means. He doesn’t mind a little bit of a choppy idle but doesn’t want anything extreme. I’m not sure how this cam would do in a lighter/std transmission f body. Anyone have any idea of whether or not this will be a good choice for his street car, or maybe a little too much on the extreme side?

Best to take your friend to maybe a car meet and let him listen to cars with a similar set up and let him decide, some people think a 250 duration cam and some 4.56 rear gear is streetable where as others might think a cam with 224 duration is a rough idle.

IMO, that cam in a 396 would be fine for a daily driver with a 6 speed. It would be like a 228 in an stock cube LT1 or LSX. Just make sure to set the idle at 1000 rpms and not super low like 750-800rpms to make it lope harder.
