Default 1996 Camaro SS-Mcleod Street Twin Install Issues

Hello all! I need some help. I finally got a hold of a street twin setup and pulled the trans last night and installed it. When going back in with the transmission I am having clearance issues. I cannot get the transmission high enough in the tunnel to go through the throw out bearing now. It is about a half inch off. I tried putting a jack on the front dampener to lower the rear and that did not work. I imagine the dual disc setup sticks back farther than the single disc i had it in which is causing the issue. Is there a trick to this or any tips anyone can give me before I pull all my hair out? Thank you in advance for the help!

Never had a that year of Camaro but is it possible to loosen the engine cradle bolts to get it to tilt more?

Put a floor jack with a 2x4 towards the front of the oil pan to get the clearance you need.

I have a street twin and have never had that issue and I've had to pull the trans twice since I installed the clutch. is the bell housing still attached to the transmission when you are doing this? when i initially pulled the transmission i left the bell housing and took it off separately and reinstalled the bell housing first then the transmission. maybe that will give you the room you need, also easier to access the bell housing bolts without the trans in the way

Did you use a clutch alignment tool? It is possible the discs are misaligned too high.

I had this same issue on my clutch install last year. Take the bellhousing off and bolt it onto the engine and then install the transmission. The bellhousing is having a clearance issue with the tunnel.
