Man, I can't guarantee it but you might just take the dumb thing apart and let it dry out. Honestly, several guys on here have done it successfully. Hell maybe even put it in a bucket of rice like a wet cell phone. It can't hurt.

Coolant spilled on mine for a month before I figured out what was going on. Dried it out and it works just fine. Have it as a spare. As stated, just dry it out and it should be good to go. I cringe at the fact that many upon many from years ago threw away perfectly good delco optis because they got wet.

1. Opti is easy to clean once removed. Put on bench on a large roll of tape and remove cap & rotor. Q tips are good for cleaning it inside. Buy a new Cap & rotor if yours has 100k mi on it. The MSD C&R is OK or get this one. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...049701&jsn=438
2. The ebay guy has good reviews. I know a guy who has one of his optis after using 2 China clone crap ones that did quick

Thanks for the replies. I think I may have Brad rebuild it based on age and miles. Internet reading gets me paranoid about these things and coolant really only trickled onto it and where it got wet was no different than a drive in the rain. The first day I drove it home, it poured cats and dogs with no issues. The car is 99% rust free minus the top of the strut plate and where the battery makes contact with the metal up front.

It really don't take too much really. They have a gasket that's supposed to keep junk out but I doubt it's very efficient even when knew. Imagine hundreds of heart cycles.

I've tried almost every brand opti, and they all suck, I went with Bob Baileys LTCC conversion kit and went with a coil per plug system, dont have to worry about that f**ker ever again

There really isnt much to an optispark. If you can remove it you can open it up and clean it. It really is a fairly simple set up once you get it open. I would check to see if the optical sensor got wet. Whatever you do try to make sure you keep the mitsubishi sensor. You will see the symbol on the sensor once you open up the opti.

Well after looking more, it seems the only plus with going with the eBay guy is a new bearing. When I spin mine, it seems the bearing is quiet just a noise of the parts inside moving? I'm thinking just going MSD kit keeping my Mitsubishi sensor and saving $175.

If your opti shaft has some "play" in it that is a sign the bearing is wearing, which then lets oil get inside opti, So the ebay guy has a + in that he replaces the bearing also and includes the MSD C&R. So if you have a AC Delco with a working Mitsubishi sensor the ebay guy may be the better choice for a "rebuilt" unless your bearing is still good. Then a MSD C&R is fine

By “play” do you mean side to side? If so there is none of that

yeah, side to side. If the sensor is good then just do a new C&R if the current one has 100k mi on it or it has otherwise visible worn terminals

Man that's a fact, when we had the shop all Optis were just thrown away, but I don't know if back in 95 if there were cap and rotors at the parts store, back then, I never heard of Anyone changing those out...

Shaft is solid. O rings appear to be made of metal. They are squared off and solid. Got a new kit on the way, the rockauto one you linked *****. Thanks! Got some locktite blue for the bolts too.

Unless you can find new O rings for the shaft, leave those alone. Yeah they are flattened but they are not broken. They don't seal anything, just "stabilize" the shaft in the cam

Got my optispark back from the Optidoctor. Looks and feels solid. Bearing is so much quieter than it was before. Gonna be a few weeks until it is installed but looks good so far.
