Default Electric pump conversion signal wire?

1996 LT-4

There are a million ways to skin this cat, but what have you guys used to turn the water pump relay on? Id like to avoid fishing all the way into the dash. What is keyed hot under the hood and close the the battery? Just run a scotch lock? Wondering everyone's choices before I take the plunge. Ive just been pulling the fuse on the Mezziere OEM wireing but thats getting old after 2 days! lol

Well, it probably won't help you but I ditched ABS a long time ago and just used the relay for that. Just had to tie in some wiring, easy peazy.

Whatever you do, use a relay. Even if you have your ABS or whatever you want to use, it’s a low amperage connection simply to trigger the relay. Just find a source (that is only hot when the key is on) in the underhood fuse panel to run a wire to. I just smashed a wire into a socket using the existing blade fuse. Been that way for over a decade now. There are all kinds of relay diagrams floating around here you can reference.

OP

probe for a pink wire that is hot with key on, engine running in the under hood fuse block. Also use a inline fuse on the +12v side. IMHO any electrical "ad on" is only as good as the wiring job to it

Have had a Meziere 118HD on for 20 years and 90+k mi. YMMV

Sorry guys forgot to update. I removed the air pump and used one of the bolt holes to mount a relay. I ran a 20 amp blade fuse from the blue Mezzier wire directly to the alternator hot. I then used the relay to switch the ground by using the pink wire in the primary cooling fan circuit as signal (keyed hot).

Why don't you connect to the battery for your constant hot instead of putting that load on the alternator?

Is there a quantifiable difference on what the alternator would see if load is placed on alt or battery...?

The battery hot cable runs directly from the alternator post to the battery anyways, so I would have just been running more wire for the same effect...
