Default Going from T56 to 4L60

Good evening all... I have a 1995 Firebird with built LT1 and T56... Car is gutted, AC and heat deleted(everything gone, even heater hoses), everything removed behind dash except stock98-02 cluster... LT1 has stock ported heads with beehive springs, stock intake with minor porting, stock TB with foil, K&N intake, Comp CC503 camshaft, long tube headers, true duals, and computer has been tuned with VATs tune out, EGR and AIR tuned out, Electric water pump, delete pulleys for AC compressor and AIR, replacement Opti with 8mm wires. The car has a T56 with racing clutch... nothing wrong with it at all... I'm just not the most consistent driver with a manual and I'm looking to bracket race it on the weekends... I will be selling everything from the master, pedal, flywheel/clutch, trans, shifter, crossmember, etc to fund the swap to automatic... I have a 1993 Camaro with the 4L60 that is going to be the donor car... the actual swap, I'm not too concerned with, I know I'll obviously need to get a flex plate and bolts and put a 2800 or so stall converter in the 4L60, it already has a shift kit. I'll swap over the automatic crossmember and driveshaft... I'll grab the bracket that goes on the throttle body as well for TV cable... also might need to do some minor wiring with getting the speed sensor to read maybe? I was told the 700s have a 4 wire plug for the lockup while the 4L60 has a 5 wire... not sure if that's true or not, but I was going to use one of those kits from Summit to put the lockup on a manual switch... I'm also going to add an external transmission cooler up front if I have the room... I will be using a B&M or similar shifter and try to keep the console. my main question is will I need to do any kind of flashing to the computer for the automatic to work? I'm planning on a 4L60 to take advantage of the overdrive if I wanted to go get ice cream or go to the grocery store... I would also consider a TH350, but only if the 4L60 isnt strong enough to hold up... thanks for any insight...

I think you will need to have your computer flashed to work with the auto. Also, I would go with a higher stall speed.

Thank you... I will consider the higher stall... probably 3200-3500... I also have a 1994 Firebird Formula that is a daily driver with 83xxx miles on it... tan 14.5 last Thursday all original with 2.73 gears... going to put a 2800 stall in that as well... was told I can pick up a few tenths using that stall and save fuel mileage vs swapping out gears to 3.73 or 4.10s.

Are you street driving the car in the original post? If not, put a turbo 350 or 400 in it. Unless you plan on building the 4l60 for the abuse, you'll need to find a competent builder or you'll be constantly pulling the thing out and having it repaired. Alot of builders half *** this trans and blame it on the transmission. Beware of that.

I dont think I'd choose that trans for a bracket racing only car anyways. Unless I was driving it around.

The car will be a bracket racer with the occasional trip to work (10 miles 1 way) or to get ice cream on a Friday night. I think I will go with the TH350... I already have the 6 speed console and I will be going with a B&M shifter, I will get the BMR crossmember, and I will try to locate the 9 inch tailshaft so I dont need to switch driveshafts... what port of vacuum can I hook the TH350 to? Since it is a vacuum operated transmission, i dont need to reflash the ECM do i?
